Annual Human Check
A downloadable game for Windows
A retro-futurist psychological test that doesn’t ask what you think — but how.
🎮 About the Game
You are about to undergo your Annual Automated Human Evaluation.
This test ensures you are still qualified to remain within organic society.
What begins as a standard pattern recognition test quickly unravels into something stranger.
You’re asked to make snap decisions — on images, emotions, faces — without time to rationalize.
The system doesn’t explain what it’s measuring. But it’s watching.
And what it reveals is not about machines.
It’s about you.
🧪 About the Jam
This project was developed in just 3 days for the 2025 European Science Game Jam at HTW Berlin, by a team of 4.
The jam’s theme explored bias in games — and how games can help players reflect on their decisions, instincts, and unconscious prejudices.
In Annual Human Check, bias isn’t a hidden mechanic — it’s the subject.
AI-generated portraits and voiceovers were intentionally used to highlight the paradox of humanity being judged by non-human tools.
⚠️ Content Warning
This game contains ethically charged decisions and reflections on bias and identity.
It is intentionally designed to provoke discomfort and self-reflection.
